Help us choose the gear, retailers, tourism providers and campaigners that should be in the running for an award!
As every TGO reader knows, nothing beats a fantastic day spent walking in the great outdoors. That‘s why each and every weekend. enthusiats head to the UK‘s hills and mountains for exercise, fresh air and the opportunity to throw off the shackles of workday life and spend time in the natural enviroment.
One of the greatest pleasures of hillwalking and backpacking is the sense of independence you get from roaming free in the countryside. So it’s easy to forget the impact of the people who campaign for the landscape to be protected; the value of outdoor equipment that keeps you safe, dry and comfortable; and the advantages of having an excellent pub or warm B&B to retreat to when the weather turns bad or the night draws in.
That’s why this year TGO is launching The Great Outdoors Awards. We can’t reward the natural environment for the role it plays in providing our retreat, our playground and our inspiration. But we can reward the products, people and services that contribute to our enjoyment of the hills and mountains.
So if you have a favourite piece of kit that genuinely makes a difference to your days out; if you’ve received fantastic service from your local outdoor retailer; or you want to commend a project to protect an area of landscape that’s precious to you – here’s your chance.
