CRAGHOPPERS Corey (£30)

TGO Rating 3.5 stars

The material looks vaguely like Power Stretch, thanks to the dense-looking outer weave, but the stretch is two-way, wind-resistance is average and the price is much more down-to-Earth.

The Corey is similar to the Craghoppers Fusion but lacks the MP3 player pocket, and has a slightly shorter zip chest. There are also differences in the sleeves and shoulders: the Corey’s sleeves are raglan style, with offset seams that shouldn’t abrade under rucksack straps, unlike the Fusion’s which cross the shoulders directly under a pack strap. Though the Corey wins out here, it loses in the collar, which is single-thickness. Sleeves and waist lack the elastane hems so the sleeves roll up a little easier for venting. Despite the lack of a pocket, I’d opt for this simpler fleece over its more expensive cousin but would look elsewhere anyway, for a product that offers better warmth for the weight.
