If you’ve been fortunate enough to have hiked in
The Microgid Top is one of the lightest reviewed, in one of the most comfortable fleece variants I’ve used; though I haven’t found it to be quite as warm as Classic 100 fabrics, Classic Micro is so soft it could easily be worn as a baselayer. The fleece’s grid pattern helps to trap warmth while allowing moisture to pass through and evaporate. Design-wise, the Microgrid Top is basic: no pocket, simple cuffs, a 7cm-deep collar and a whopping 34cm chest zip for more-than adequate venting. Seams run across the shoulders but are reasonably flat-sewn and have caused no problems under pack straps. The price is surprisingly high for such a minimal garment.
