EXTREMITIES Multisport GTX (£55)

TGO Rating 5 stars

This glove ticks pretty much every box. It is weatherproof, flexible, slimline, dextrous, durable and comfortable. The rugged outer has an element of stretch, which adds to the close-fitting comfort.

A warm brushed lining works with the Gore-Tex XCR membrane to keep heat in and moisture out. A full leather palm, fingers, thumb and thumb crotch are hard-wearing and offer excellent grip. I can’t feel any internal finger seams and the ends are rolled. An elasticated wrist has a quick-release link clip, and the long gauntlet slides under outer layers. In sub-zero conditions they didn’t have quite enough insulation for my cold-prone digits. For wet British winters, though, they have been shining stars, even though my fingers don’t quite reach the ends (sizing is large: men’s XS was too big for me). The only thing missing is a nose wipe, but I guess that’s why tissues were invented. If you’ve medium or large hands, this is a brilliant glove for winter walking.
