Reviewing what is essentially the same cap twice gives me a little more space to comment about them.
The Rab and Outdoor Designs caps were some of the first to arrive for inclusion – way back when the snow still lay on the ground at the beginning of the year in fact – so both had proper exposure to the kind of cold for which they’re designed, and performed very well. The only complaint would apply to all caps in this feature: synthetic fabrics such as fleece pong when they’ve become damp. I’m at a loss as to what purpose is served by the fabric strap that covers the front poppers; perhaps it’s to stop it getting choked by snow and ice; perhaps it’s for attaching the cap to a pack strap; perhaps it’s aesthetic. I find it an encumbrance that makes the poppers harder to use during general winter wear.
