It’s warm, yes, but Cady just doesn’t set me on fire. Thinsulate fill feels less supple than others, and I’m not sure whether it’s this or the cut, but the jacket feels restrictive over my upper back and arms when I push my arms forward.
The cut is waist-length, with room for a base and lightweight mid-layer. The front zip, which has an anti-snag inner flap, finishes just below the chin; the collar is fleece-lined but bulky at the chinguard. Fleece linings in the zipped side pockets are lovely with dry hands but stick to gloves or damp hands. Smooth-running underarm zips are a key feature, allowing Cady to be worn on the move as well as for static insulation. If you want to wear a warm jacket while you’re active, those pit zips are a reason to buy, but the flat, rather than lofted, feel means Cady can’t give that ‘cuddled up’ feeling of the best insulated garments.
