TGO Rating 4.5 stars

Unique in this test, Sooka is a waterproof insulated jacket. I thought this would limit its use – until winter arrived with freezing, often damp conditions.

In the end I wore it regularly, on cold, dry days when I wasn’t exerting enough to overload the Conduit laminate, and sleety days when it was more comfortable than masses of conventional layers. I loved the laminated zips (two-way at front, and on pockets), pocket placement and general cut. But the otherwise excellent hood doesn’t have volume adjustment so flopped over my eyes when I cinched it in against storms, and the cuffs, which feature integrated thumbloops, worked well over Power Stretch-type gloves but were tricky to cram into over-mitts or gloves with average-width gauntlets. Still, Sooka has that cuddle-up quality that makes you want to wear it. If last winter becomes the norm, it may well be top of the Must Have list.
