Many walkers like to wear thin wicking socks inside their thick socks (I prefer just one pair). These socks combine the two into one double sock. The Tactel inner wicks moisture into the outer wool-rich sock.

The socks are smooth inside and out, with stretch bands at the cuff and arch plus a Y Gore heel and an offset toe seam. This is raised a little and needs to be positioned carefully so it doesn’t rub. In fact care needs to be taken when pulling the sock on to get the heel and the toe box in the right position. The socks are quite long, coming almost up to my knees. I found them quite warm for the light weight and thinness, presumably because of the double layer, and reckon they’re good for three-season use. Whether they can live up to the claim of 1000 miles without blisters or wearing out I can’t say (I’ve never had any socks last anywhere near 1,000 miles) but they are comfortable, lightweight and reasonably priced.
