BRIDGEDALE Endurance Summit (£14)

TGO Rating 4 stars

Bridgedale uses a mix of wool fibres with wicking synthetics wrapped round them called WoolFusion, which is claimed to be comfortable and tough. Having used WoolFusion socks for several years I can vouch for the durability.

However I don’t find the material quite as soft as socks with a much higher wool content, especially after washing. The Endurance Summits are Bridgedale’s warmest socks with thick, dense terry loop stitching throughout. The toes and heel are reinforced and there are stretch bands at the ankle, arch, instep and cuff. The flat toe seam is offset and there is a Y Gore heel. Whilst not as thick as the Teko Expedition socks I found these socks warm enough walking in the snow in sub zero temperatures. Bridgedale says they are suitable for year-round mountain expeditions. This may be so for high altitude but for the British hills I think they’ll prove too warm in summer. However for autumn to spring use they are fine.
