TGO Rating 4 stars

The new ultralight Mistral Pull-On is made from Mountain Equipment’s He30.rs nylon, which has a good DWR that makes the fabric quite rain-resistant, at least when new.

There’s a high neck for warmth and a front zip that is longer than on other smock-style windshirts, which is excellent for ventilation. The sleeves are articulated for free movement and long enough to be pulled down to cover the hands. Thumb loops on the cuffs can be used to hold the sleeves in position. A tiny stuffsack weighing a mere 7g is provided but isn’t really necessary as the Mistral can easily be stuffed inside its chest pocket. A Large size was provided for test and this fits me okay over a thin fleece top. As I’m a Medium in most windproofs, Mountain Equipment’s sizing is on the small side. The Mistral isn’t quite the lightest windshirt and it is a little more expensive than other smock ones but the design is a little better too.
