The Diablos are closed-toe sandals, just. There is a small hard toe cap that covers the very end of the toes. You can kick rocks but your toes can still get fresh air. The main foot covering is a stretchy rubberised fabric dotted with holes for breathability, cutaway next to the sole and reinforced at the sides. Closure is by stretch lacing and a cordlock. The sandals are quite wide and fit my feet well, feeling comfortable and secure. The rear strap can be removed so the sandals can be used as slip-ons for casual use. The lightly patterned shaped footbed is non-slip and has raised edges at the toe, heel and sides. It curves up at the toe too. Cushioning and grip are good. The sole flexes easily at the forefoot but is stiffened at the rear to prevent twisting. For a closed-toe sandal the weight and price are low and whilst I prefer open toe sandals this was my favourite of the closed toe ones.
