The Toachi sandals are comfortable, supportive and well-cushioned with a good grip. The straps hold the feet securely in place and the patterned footbed is non-slip and feels pleasant against the skin.
The footbed is curved and is slightly raised at the heel, though not at the sides or toe. An unusual feature is the drainage system in the sole, which consists of a series of tiny holes. I guess if you’re in and out of water often these might make a difference. The holes are also said to provide better ventilation in very hot weather though as I tested the sandals in April and May I haven’t been able to find out if there really is a difference. In use these sandals have been fine but there is one aspect of the design I dislike and that could affect the fit for many people. The front and rear straps are continuous, the Velcro on top just being for micro adjustment. My wide feet just fit into the front straps without any adjustment. The Velcro straps don’t do anything. However if the Velcro straps are tightened then the main straps distort in shape, which could be uncomfortable. I would much rather have straps that open fully, like those on the Teva’s Terra Fi-2.
