This is because the foam is cored – hold it up to the light and you can see through the diamond-shaped holes. Due to this it only has a two- to three-season rating despite the thickness. The shell fabric is textured so it doesn’t slip around on the groundsheet. The valve is quite small, which slows down inflation and deflation, especially the latter. Rolling it up has to be done in almost slow motion in order for all the air to be forced out. When deflated the mat is still quite bulky. There is a 120cm Standard version that weighs 600 grams and which should be more compact.
