The Moonshine is fairly warm and fairly light. However it has the worst weight to loft ratio of all the bags tested and with a comfort rating of 1˚C only just qualifies as a three-season bag.

The Hypna 8 is warm and comfortable with a soft shell that drapes well round the body and feels comfortable next to the skin.

The low cost of this bag makes it great value for money, especially if you are looking for a warm sleeping bag
The Never Winter is a roomy bag with a shaped hood that has a baffle around the rim that Marmot calls a hood muff.

The 550 is the heaviest bag in Mountain Equipment’s Xero series and it still weighs less than a kilo. It’s a very comfortable sleeping bag with a soft shell that feels nice against the skin and moulds to the body
Mountain Hardwear makes some excellent bags, such as the Phantom, but the Piute is merely okay. It’s a roomy bag so you can stretch and turn in it easily.
This bag appeared just as Chris was putting the feature together. I couldn’t decide whether it was a three-season bag, as the company suggested, or an all-year-round bag for UK conditions.

PHD are noted for their very slim, thermally efficient bags so on first look the Combi is a surprise as it’s quite wide.

This is a superb bag, arguably the best three-season one available. It has the best weight to loft ratio of the bags tested and is very light for the warmth provided.
The Nordic Comfort is another warm bag that is good value for money. It’s roomier than many of the bags tested and so worth considering by those who don’t like narrow bags.
