ROBENS Mythos Solo (£270)

TGO Rating 4 stars

It does have a short cross pole at the apex of the tent, which lifts the flysheet away from the inner and extends it beyond the inner at the front, creating a larger porch. The two poles are connected by a hub and so pack away together and are easy to set up. The poles attach to the tent with clips. Setting up the Mythos is quick and easy, with
just six pegs needed. Unless it’s calm, another six are then needed for the guylines.

The Mythos is quite spacious inside with reasonable headroom. The porch is quite roomy too and either side of the flysheet door can be opened, depending on wind direction. In fair weather the whole side of the tent can be opened up, which gives excellent views and a pleasant, airy feel. When the doors have to be fully closed there is room for using a stove – with care – in the porch.

Ventilation is reasonable, with small protected vents at the front and back of the flysheet. These have zipped mesh panels and adjustable Velcro straps and can be closed completely if necessary. They can be adjusted from inside the tent. There is access to the rear vent through a zipped mesh panel on the inner. These vents could be larger and the front one could just be a hood covering the top of the two-way door zip, which would save weight and make for a bigger vent. The top of the inner tent door can be zipped down to reveal a mesh panel for more ventilation.

The Mythos Solo is reasonably stable and suitable for most conditions. The weight is higher than some more expensive alternatives but the quality and design are good and the price excellent. There’s nothing especially innovative about this tent but it’s functional and easy to use. I like it.
