Waterproofs

Windproof and waterproof jackets that can be used all year round on the British hills have to be pretty tough. But thanks to modern technology these garments can also be comparatively lightweight, functional and smart. Most garments nowadays incorporate fabrics or coatings that are both, to a degree, waterproof and breathable, depending on the fabric or coating used. All tested garments have hoods, pockets, stormflaps over zips and adjustable cuffs
Lightweight
There was a time when lightweight waterproof jackets were a compromise between weight and function but not any more. Even the lightest jackets are capable of keeping you dry in most conditions and have the added advantage of being able to be folded up and tucked away in a pack pocket when not being used.
Trousers
Few hillwalkers enjoy wearing waterproof trousers but breathable fabrics, light weight and clever design have made modern waterproof pants perfectly comfortable.
