Wearing these felt like being encased in a crisp packet – it certainly gives “Walkers” a new dimension. Lightweight, but the noisy fabric ensured I was never going to sneak up on a summit.
Breathability was poor, the inside soon slick with sweat. The gussetted ankle zip was not wide enough to allow them to be pulled over boots although they just eased over trail shoes. The waist has plenty of adjustment and the top of the pants is cut to allow pregnant women scope for walking on wet days: the fabric allowance around my stomach was about the same as for my bum. Side slits allow access to trouser pockets but tended to gape; not great in driving rain. At this weight and price, they’re a candidate for “emergency trousers; hope not to wear them” provided you have small feet or wear shoes rather than boots.
