The MCofS’s 2011 winter safety lecture series starts this Wednesday at the Mountain Cafe in Aviemore.
An inspiring array of speakers is lined up to give this year’s lectures, including TGO’s own Cameron McNeish. Guaranteed to provide an entertaining night out, the lectures are designed to be both educational and enjoyable.
All the speakers have spent many years in the mountains and will draw upon their own experiences to illustrate hard lessons learnt. Each presentation will last approximately 45 minutes and there will be opportunity at the end of each evening for any questions. The MCofS say that whether you are a hardened climber, or up in the Highlands for your first winter experience, you can ensure a good night out and learn something new.
The lectures will be running at the Mountain Cafe in Aviemore on Wednesday evenings; the Clachaig Inn in Glen Coe on Tuesday evenings from February 1; and at Tiso stores in Inverness, Perth, Edinburgh and Glasgow on Thursday evenings from January 27.
The first speaker is Nick Carter, who has instructed in the outdoors for the last 15 years including working at Plas y Brenin and Glenmore Lodge. The talk starts at 8pm, with food available at 7pm. Meals cost £10 and should be booked direct with the Mountain Cafe on 01479 812473.
