TGO's Equipment Editor Chris Townsend has recently returned from Germany visiting OutDoor, Europe's biggest outdoor clothing and equipment trade show, and is reporting back for TGO on some of the gear you can expect to see in the shops next year.

MBC (the Mountain Boot Company) will be distributing solar power systems from Goal Zero, which launched in the USA last year. The products are lightweight and portable. I like the look of the Nomad solar charger, which weighs 0.8lbs and is said to charge a mobile phone in 1-2 hours. The Nomad can be used with the Guide Power Pack, which weighs 0.1lbs, for charging AA and AAA batteries. Goal Zero chargers are claimed to be more efficient than other makes. It will be interesting to see just how good they are.
