TGO's Equipment Editor Chris Townsend has recently returned from Germany visiting OutDoor, Europe's biggest outdoor clothing and equipment trade show, and is reporting back for TGO on some of the gear you can expect to see in the shops next year.
I've found the Chaco sandals I've tried in the past comfortable and supportive. However they've also been heavy with thick soles that feel like a solid lump underfoot. The latest Chaco sandal, the oddly named Updraft Bulloo, is not like this. It has a much thinner and lighter PU midsole plus a Vibram outsole. As with other Chaco sandals the footbed is shaped to hold the foot in place. It works too. I took Chaco's ten pace test, which meant walking ten paces in bare feet and then ten paces in the Updraft Bulloo sandals. I went about one pace further due to the stabilisation provided by the sandals.
