CHRIS TOWNSEND AT FRIEDRICHSHAFEN: Hilleberg to offer three season tents

TGO's Equipment Editor Chris Townsend has recently returned from Germany visiting OutDoor, Europe's biggest outdoor clothing and equipment trade show, and is reporting back for TGO on some of the gear you can expect to see in the shops next year.

For the first time Hilleberg is making tents described as 3 season rather than 4 season, which means they aren't designed for heavy snow loads. Using a new lighter weight fabric the Anjan 2 and 3 person tunnel tents are about 25 per cent lighter than the Nallo 2 and 3 tents, which have the same design. Minimum weights are 1.4 and 1.6 kg. There is also a dome tent, the Rogen, which is 35 per cent lighter than the Allak with a minimum weight of 1.7kg. All three tents look excellent. There isn't yet a lighter weight version of the Akto, something I would like to see.
