The Snowdonia National Park Authority has admitted that bad weather has further delayed the building of its controversial new Hafod Eryri visitor centre at the summit of Snowdon.
They claim that 70 days have been lost since March this year due to four feet of snow in April, followed by heavy rain and strong winds.
The interior of the building is almost finished but there is still a lot of work to be done and the Park Authority admits that it is currently impossible to confirm a completion date.
This won't be the first construction on the summit of Wales's tallest mountain. It replaces a cafe that had stood there since the 1930s and which was described by Prince Charles as "the highest slum in Wales". That in turn was preceded by a Victorian era hotel, built around the same time as the Snowdon railway. However many would argue that the summit of this iconic mountain should be left untainted.
The National Park Authority disagree. Speaking at the construction site, Chief Executive Aneurin Phillips said: "The more I see of the work the more I am convinced that this will be a magnificent building for the summit of this beautiful and at times challenging mountain."
