Many claims are made for the Dingle peninsula. “One of the earth’s most beautiful places” asserts an Irish artist, while the author of a local guide to the peninsula writes – quite uniquely: “Truly in this world of verve and allure the Dingle peninsula is a Colossus bestriding the past and the present”.
‘Krugers – Next Pub Boston’ says the sign, pointing down the road to the local hostelry, the last indeed on these far western shores of Europe before you cross the Pond to the US. Just offshore lie our continent’s most westerly islands, the Blaskets, all now uninhabited.
